If you are interested, please contact Susan Ellacott [email protected] 07947 005483 The sun shone brightly over Wright Robinson college in Manchester on Saturday 25th July as 34 teams gathered to play in the ‘This Girl Can’ Netball festival organised in conjunction with Key103 (a local radio station) and North West Netball’s NDCC’s. Teams were seeded and grouped according to ability so everyone could play against teams of the same standard. There were 4 groups, and each group played a round robin. With the teams that came second winning a medal and those who came first we presented with a medal and trophy. The winners of the groups were:
A massive thank you all the volunteers and umpires! who were all fantastic and made the day run as smoothly as possible and to Key 103 and ‘Manchester Girls Can’. Off court, during the festival, there was also a raffle, Fire engine, Zumba, Smoothie bike, and Tennis to keep teams and the spectators entertained whilst not on court. The feedback from teams was great, with many looking forward to the next event, the ladies defiantly showed ‘Manchester Girls Can!’  What a night!!
The annual Manx Netball Association Awards ceremony took place on 13th June at the Palace Hotel in Douglas. A record number of players attended – 147 across 10 different clubs!! Award winners on the night were: Players of the Year Ally White (Prem) Elissa Morris (Div 1) Millie Clarke (Div 2) Most Sporting Teams Toomraiders (Prem) Team DQ (Div 1) Thompson 5 (Div 2) Grassroots Coach and Unsung Hero, Amanda Butler Grassroots Official Kim Lamb Grassroots Administrator Michelle O’Malley Young Volunteer Aalish Bridson Longstanding Contribution to Netball Marg McGee Teacher Award Bethan Kneen Bethan went on to win the same award at the NW Regional Ceremony - Good luck in the National Goalden Globe award ceremony on 19th September Everyone looked fantastic and the last of the ladies left at 1.30am …so a great night was had by all! |
