World Netball (WN) have begun the process of reviewing the 2020 edition of the Rules of Netball. Each member country will have the opportunity to submit suggested amendments or additions, with the submissions discussed by the WN Rules Advisory Panel for inclusion in the next edition of the Rules Book, scheduled for release on 1st January 2024 (so no need to get rid of your 2020 Rules Books yet!) England Netball are going to mirror the process undertaken by World Netball to ensure that any suggestions/amendments are ratified by a group of appointed specialists prior to submission. Please find below our own timeline for review. We would welcome submissions from all participants (players, coaches, umpires, technical officials, administrators, volunteers and the wider netball family) between 23rd June and 31st July submitted on the link below. We would ask that those of you who decide to submit a suggestion or addition, keep in mind that a majority of Netball is played at grassroots level and that any suggestion or addition should work in those settings. For example – a suggestion of a change to court dimensions or markings would not be feasible due to the impact that this would have on venues and courts across the country and the expense associated. This does not mean we do not want you to think big! The creation of Fast Net and latterly Fast 5 was a product of suggestions at a rules review linked to potential innovations. Netball is a unique sport and whilst we would like to maintain its traditional values and format, we also want to grow as a modern and exciting sport to ensure we are not left behind.

Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to get in contact with us at officiating@englandnetball.co.uk England Netball (EN) is excited to introduce our new look, creating a fresh, confident and friendly brand identity with a new logo, to support the launch of EN’s new 10-year ‘Adventure Strategy’.
Please complete the questionnaire below to have your say. This is your opportunity as an Umpire to influence our direction for the next strategy cycle.
Think big, think outside of the box and share your ideas with us. For Umpires under 18 please use this link - https://forms.office.com/r/wwHS438SUU For Umpires over 18 please use this link - https://forms.office.com/r/NtuYf4StTH For Technical Officials please use this link - https://forms.office.com/r/skxX9XFJkK The questionnaire closes on 1st October at 17.00pm and should only take about 6-8 minutes. You may need some additional thinking time regarding the following question which will be asked. Much of the previous 2018-2021 strategy came from input and suggestions that we received from the officiating family. By thinking big and without the constraints of time or money, please let us know what your major game changers would be and why you would like to see them included our next officiating strategy. A Game Changer is an event, idea, or procedure that effects a significant shift in the current way of doing or thinking about something. I look forward to reading your responses in the coming weeks. Many Thanks. Gary Burgess - Head of Officiating.
