Netball Youth Camps!
After the success of last summers camps, this year England Netball are not only running Netball Youth Camps in the Summer but also in Half Terms.
Netball Youth Camps give junior players the chance to get together with their friends and take to the court in the holidays!
The camps will be running for one, three or five days, catering for girls between the ages of 9-16. There will be plenty of fun, skills and match play as our coaches give expert tips to help improve play!
The camps are non-residential holiday camps providing ‘Nothing but Netball’; not only will there be top quality coaching and fun netball activities but there is even an opportunity to meet and be inspired by an England player.
If you are a junior netball lover (or the parent of one!) these are an unmissable holiday activity.

Knutsford NYC Report
On Wednesday 22nd July we kicked off at Knutsford Leisure Centre with an amazing 25 girls taking part in just one of our four England Netball Youth Camps held in the North West this year! The camp took place over 3 days, delivered by three members of staff from the NW team- Jenny Leach (Gtr Manchester NDO), Sara Bayman (Cheshire NDO) and Steph Wignall (Lancashire NDO). With Sara Bayman not only being the Netball development officer for the area but also representing the England Netball team internationally and travelling to Sydney for the World Cup this summer, the girls were extremely lucky to be in a position to have a camp that was organised and coached by her. However, this was not only it, the camp was also attended on the first day by another England International – Ama Agbeze!
On day one the girls took part in Ice breaker team games to get to know one another, took part in a ball skills session delivered by Sara and were then able to question and answer both Sara and Ama on their sporting experience. The day finished with games of netball but was cut slightly short with bad weather so all took part in a trainer designing competition.
On day two the girls took part in warm up drills and games and were taken through a running competition with Steph and an agility circuit with Sara. Throughout lunch the girls were put into four teams that were named countries competing in the World Cup this Summer- England, New Zealand, Australia and Jamaica. These teams were created ready for the big competition ahead on the final day. When the girls had their teams and finished their lunch they were then asked to spend 30 minutes creating a group dance or chant for the opening ceremony of the games on the final day. In the afternoon of day two, Jenny took the girls through a shooting session from shooting techniques to movement in the circle.
On day three, the girls took part in a defence session delivered by Steph, working on foot patterns and getting their feet to the ball. After the session, Sara set up an individual challenge circuit were the girls had the opportunity to win points for their country. These were such like ‘how many shots in a minute?’, ‘how far can you jump?’, ‘how many skips can you do in a minute?’, ‘how many chest passes against the crazy catch can you do in a minute?’ etc. In the afternoon of the final day the girls showed their opening ceremony routines and then took part in various games to win points for their country!
Thank you to all girls who took part in the camp, we hope to see you in the future!

Steph, Jenny and Sara!

Blackburn NYC Report
On Monday 3rd August until Wednesday 5th August an England Netball U11 youth camp took place in Blackburn, Lancashire. Ten young girls turned up from all over Lancashire and one of which was from Ely, Cambridgeshire and was staying with her grandparents to attend the camp.
The girls were fabulous and their efforts were 100% across all three days. On the first day England Netball and Manchester Thunder star Laura Malcolm attended to meet the girls, answer some questions and deliver a defensive session to the girls.
As well as meeting Laura on the first day, the girls did lots of fun games and activities to get to know each other and also took part in a ball skills session before playing lots of netball towards the end of the day. On the lunch break of the first day the girls took part in a design the trainer competition too.
On the second day the girls did lots of games and activities in the morning as well as taking part in an attacking session. At lunch time the girls were put into two teams ready for the world cup competition on the final day and were able to start practicing their dances/anthems. In the afternoon of the second day the girls took part in individual challenges with the chance to be awarded points for their world cup teams.

After the agility session and a break the group took part in some shooting skills, drills and games.
In the afternoon of the final day the world cup games took place and parents came to spectate. The atmosphere was great but at the end of the games it was still a draw, so we decided to get the parents involved on a shoot out competition to decide the winners! The parents were very nervous but did great and the overall winners of the competition were ENGLAND!
Myself and Jenny would like to thank all the girls who took part in the camp and the parents for their support. We had a great 3 days and hopefully looking forward to seeing you all again at future camps!
