England Netball supports Children’s Mental Health Week 2021

1/2/2021

Children’s Mental Health Week 2021 (CMHW) is taking place from 1-7 February and England Netball is supporting this important initiative, along with young members of the Netball Family, through sharing a variety of practical and valuable resources.

CMHW was created by children’s mental health charity Place2Be, whose aim is to highlight the importance of mental wellbeing among children and young people. The theme of the week is ‘Express Yourself.’

From being a de-stressor to teaching individuals how to deal with setbacks, there’s plenty of evidence that taking part in physical activity can have a positive impact on mental wellbeing. A survey of England Netball members found that 94% of members agree being involved in netball has made a positive difference to their mood and outlook.

Vitality Roses lift Jean Hornsby Cup after third win over Vitality Netball Superleague All Stars
The Vitality Roses claimed a 3-0 series win over brand-new side the Vitality Netball Superleague All Stars on Friday night, closing the trio of matches with a 55-43 victory.

Kick-starting the night’s proceedings with a confident long bomb, Cardwell remained composed from the get-go.
Sending quick fire bullets into Team Bath Netball’s Sophie Drakeford-Lewis, co-captain Natalie Haythornthwaite provided vital back up on the circle edge as the Vitality Roses quickly found their groove and created a lead.

Increasing their physicality for the final match of the series, the All Stars used every inch of the court to their advantage with long passes into the corner to Natalie Panagarry before firing it into Manchester Thunder’s pillar of strength Joyce Mvula.  :: Read More ::

Vitality Netball Legends Series postponed

1/1/2021

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, we have had to postpone the Vitality Netball Legends Series between the Vitality Roses and Jamaica Sunshine Girls, scheduled to take place on home soil at the end of this month.

We are hugely disappointed that the series cannot happen in January, but with the extended restrictions to international travel between the UK and Jamaica, it isn’t possible for the fixture to go ahead as planned. We would like to thank the Jamaican national team and the Vitality Roses for their collective efforts to plan and prepare for the series to date, and their support in making this decision. As we look ahead to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, we are committed to getting the Vitality Roses back to the court for crucial preparation and competitive game time.

We are working behind the scenes to confirm potential new fixtures, whilst continuing to ensure the health and safety of all players and staff. We will confirm new dates for the Jamaica series later this year, in line with evolving Government guidance and will update all stakeholders on plans as soon as we can. Finally, we would like to thank our partners and the Netball Family for their continued support during these challenging times for our sport.
