To foster a good working relationship, and open and honest communication between coaches from other clubs, the North West Netball Association is asking Clubs and Coaches to sign up to this protocol regarding players of ability and talent:
If a coach identifies a player whose development they believe would benefit from a move to another club:
As a matter of common courtesy the coach should first approach the player’s club coach and explain why it might benefit the player’s development by moving to another club, before approaching the player or her parents.
If a player or parent from another club approaches you as a coach asking to join your club:
Please ask the player for their current club coaches contact details and notify the coach concerned, stating that you have been approached by a player or parent regarding attending a training session or moving clubs.
It is recognised that players do have the right to move clubs, but significant negative impact and bad feeling can be avoided if coaches have open and honest communication.
Please encourage your players if they are thinking of moving clubs to talk to their team coach first, as it is likely the problems they have at their current club will transfer unless a solution is found for their original problem
